The particularly soft first fleece of young alpacas is also known as ‘Baby Alpaca’, so the very best wool is obtained when the animal is sheared for the first time. Alpaca wool also has another advantage over cashmere – it comes in as many as 28 natural colours, does not crease and does not pill.
